Private school guide book published
A new guide book to Oahu's private schools will be released this fall, the first of its kind.
Honolulu resident Jacqui Pirl has written a school-by-school guide for parents to 71 private schools on Oahu. The book will be available in bookstores at the end of September.
Pirl's book -- The Parents' Guide to Private Schools in Hawaii - Oahu -- includes such information as school history, religious affiliation, admissions procedures, tuition, curriculum, college placements and teacher credentials.
"Private school is such a hot topic in Hawaii," she said. "I thought there was really a need for a book of facts for parents to turn to when looking at the many options for their children."
The guide also provides information on several public schools, charter schools and Hawaiian immersion schools on Oahu.
The book, published by Kukui Press, is Pirl's first. She is the chief operating officer of Aloha Laboratories Inc. in Honolulu, and has written parenting and travel articles for Honolulu Magazine, Hawaii Parent magazine and The Honolulu Advertiser.
